Over 2,200 confirmed shahadat following Afghanistan’s earthquake
A Struggle for Survival in the Mountains
Afghanistan – (Special Coerrespondent / Web Desk) – The number of people killed in the large earthquake that hit Afghanistan has risen past 2,200. Rescue teams are working hard to find survivors and recover bodies from destroyed villages.
Most of the deaths happened in the remote and mountainous Kunar province. Officials warn that the number of people hurt or killed is likely to go even higher as they reach more areas.
Getting help to these villages has been very difficult. The rough mountains and broken roads from aftershocks have slowed down rescue teams. While most areas have now been reached, the hope of finding people alive is fading quickly.

The country’s poor roads and lack of resources are making the disaster worse. Local hospitals are overwhelmed with injured people and are running out of supplies and medicine.
This earthquake has created a new crisis for a country already struggling with deep poverty and a severe drought. It is estimated that over 500,000 people have been affected, losing their homes and livelihoods.
