Iran Confirms Damage to Nuclear Facilities from US Strikes
The situation remains tense as both Iran and Israel maintain high alert amid concerns of renewed escalation.
Tehran — Iran has confirmed that its nuclear installations sustained significant damage following recent US airstrikes, while also announcing a gradual easing of internet restrictions in the wake of a ceasefire agreement with Israel after a 12-day conflict.
According to Al Jazeera, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated on Wednesday that repeated US strikes over the weekend had “badly damaged” key nuclear infrastructure. “Our nuclear installations have been badly damaged — that’s for sure because they have come under repeated attacks,” Baghaei told reporters. He refrained from providing technical details, saying the matter is being handled by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and other relevant agencies.
The US has not officially confirmed strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, but tensions between the two countries have escalated sharply in recent weeks amid regional instability.
In a related development, Iranian authorities announced on Wednesday the gradual lifting of internet restrictions that had been imposed during the brief but intense military conflict with Israel. The move comes after both nations agreed to a ceasefire, halting days of cross-border missile and drone attacks.
“The communication network is gradually returning to its previous state,” read a statement from the Revolutionary Guards’ cyber security command, broadcast by Iranian state media. Iran’s Communications Minister Sattar Hashemi also confirmed the development via a post on social media platform X, stating: “With the normalisation of conditions, the state of communication access has returned to its previous conditions.”
The restoration of internet access is expected to ease public frustration and help stabilize internal communications after nearly two weeks of restrictions, particularly in urban centers.
