PIA Suspends Flights to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Dubai Amid Escalating Tensions
The move follows Iran’s launch of ballistic missiles targeting U.S. military bases in Qatar and Iraq.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended its flight operations to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Dubai following Iran’s missile strikes on a U.S. airbase in Qatar, the airline’s spokesperson confirmed on Sunday.
The decision to halt services comes in response to the deteriorating security situation across the Gulf region. According to the PIA spokesperson, the flights will remain suspended until the situation stabilizes, after which normal operations will resume.
The move follows Iran’s launch of ballistic missiles targeting U.S. military bases in Qatar and Iraq. U.S. media reports suggest at least six missiles were fired toward Qatar.
In a statement, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry revealed that as a precautionary measure, the Al-Udeid airbase—home to U.S. military forces—was evacuated ahead of the attacks. The Qatari defense system reportedly intercepted one of the missiles aimed at the base.

Meanwhile, in Iraq, the U.S. has activated its air defense systems at Ain al-Asad Airbase, directing personnel to seek shelter in bunkers.
The suspension of PIA’s Gulf operations underscores the growing risks to civilian air travel amid escalating military tensions in the region.
