Four-Year LLB Program Gets Green Light from HEC Committee

The committee gave principled approval to a newly designed four-year LLB program.

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan held a comprehensive three-day meeting of the National Curriculum Review Committee for Law to review and update the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program.

The meeting, chaired by HEC Director General (Curriculum) Dr. Amjad Hussain, focused on evaluating the structure and content of the LLB curriculum.

Participants included Hassan Raza Pasha, member of the Pakistan Bar Council; Barrister Usama Malik, Director of the Directorate of Legal Education (DLE); and Dr. Aziz-ur-Rehman, Dean of the Quaid-i-Azam University School of Law. Hidayatullah Kasi, Deputy Director (Curriculum) at HEC, served as the secretary for the session.

The committee gave principled approval to a newly designed four-year LLB program. The revised curriculum aims to align legal education in Pakistan with international best practices while addressing the specific needs of the country’s legal system.

HEC officials stated that the updated curriculum is intended to strengthen legal education standards across Pakistan and ensure graduates are better prepared for professional legal practice.

The finalized curriculum will now move forward for additional statutory approvals required under law before it is formally implemented across higher education institutions.
