5,000 Laptops to Reach Merit-Based Students Across Public Institutions

LAHORE: (News Desk) – The Punjab government has approved 5,000 laptops for students in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, with the initiative aimed at improving access to modern technology and digital education.

According to details reported by a private news channel, the Punjab cabinet approved the distribution of laptops among students enrolled in public-sector educational institutions across AJK. The devices will be allocated on the basis of merit, academic performance, student numbers and institutional requirements.

Under the plan, the Punjab government will obtain relevant student data from educational institutions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The information will be used to determine the distribution of laptops among eligible students.

Students enrolled in public-sector colleges and universities across AJK will be eligible for the scheme. The final mechanism for supplying and distributing the devices will be agreed upon by the Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir governments following the cabinet’s approval.

The initiative is intended to strengthen students’ access to digital resources, online educational platforms and modern technology, while supporting academic activities and promoting digital learning.
