SYDNEY: It was a day of dominance for Pakistan’s rising squash stars at the Australian Junior Open 2025, as the talented Ali sisters — Mehwish, Sehrish, and Mahnoor — all powered into the semi-finals of their respective age groups with emphatic straight-game victories at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Demonstrating the full force of Pakistan’s junior squash pedigree, the sisters combined for nine flawless games across three matches on Tuesday, stamping their authority on one of the most prestigious junior events outside the subcontinent.

Mehwish Ali Marches On in U17

Top seed Mehwish Ali, competing in the Girls’ U17 division, delivered a clinical performance on Court 7, dismantling Maeghan Wang in straight games: 11-6, 11-3, 11-2. Mehwish played withtrademark composure, mixing length and deception with surgical precision to book her place in the final four.

Mehwish will have to contend with Tina Ma in the semi-finals as she eyes the prestigious Australian Junior Open 2025 title, and her current form suggests she’s well on course.

Sehrish Stuns in U15

In the U15 category, second-seeded Sehrish Ali took center stage on the Glass Court and did not disappoint. She blew past Chelsea Paule with a commanding 11-2, 11-3, 11-1 win. Her court coverage and attacking intent left the crowd stunned, as she barely gave her opponent room to breathe.

Her next assignment will be taking on the 3rd seed Olivia van Zon as she attempts to create history alongside her sisters.

Mahnoor Ali, the youngest of the trio, also lived up to her No. 1 seeding in the Girls’ U13 draw. She put on a masterclass against Meriam Ibrahim, registering a thumping 11-1, 11-0, 11-3 victory on Court 8 to continue her journey in the Australian Junior Open 2025.

Her opponent in the semi-finals is Elizabeth Wang, the 5th seed in her age group.
