Rwandan Air Chief Visits Pakistan Air Force Headquarters to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Islamabad — A high-level delegation from the Republic of Rwanda, led by Lieutenant General Jean Jacques Mupenzi, Chief of Staff of the Rwandan Air Force, visited the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Headquarters in Islamabad. The visit marks a significant step towards enhancing the cooperation and strengthening long-standing Air Force-to-Air Force ties between the two nations, with a focus on joint training initiatives.

Upon arrival, Lieutenant General Mupenzi was welcomed by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Air Force, who presented a Guard of Honour. The visit provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss key areas of collaboration in military aviation, particularly in terms of training and modernization.

During the meeting, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff of PAF, shared insights into the ongoing modernization projects of the Pakistan Air Force, including force goals and future warfare plans. He reaffirmed PAF’s commitment to providing capacity-building support to the Rwandan Air Force, specifically in human resource development, maintenance, and operational training.

Lieutenant General Mupenzi expressed his admiration for the professionalism, modernized infrastructure, and multi-domain capabilities of the Pakistan Air Force. He recognized PAF’s standards of excellence in military aviation, describing them as a model for other air forces to follow. The Rwandan Air Chief emphasized the importance of enhancing Rwanda’s Air Force capabilities to address contemporary security challenges and expressed a strong desire to collaborate with PAF in establishing comprehensive training programs for both aircrew and technical ground crew.

The delegation also visited the National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre and PAF Cyber Command, where they were briefed on the operational capabilities of the Pakistan Air Force.

This visit underscores Rwanda’s commitment to restructuring and modernizing its Air Force, with Pakistan Air Force’s expertise playing a key role in this process. The growing partnership between both countries reflects shared goals in strengthening military cooperation and enhancing defense capabilities.
