FIA Thwarts Attempt to Smuggle 6,700 Foreign SIM Cards into Pakistan

FIA authorities discovered the SIM cards hidden in Zohaib’s baggage during a routine search.

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 6,700 foreign mobile phone SIM cards from the UK into Pakistan on Wednesday. The suspect, Mohammad Zohaib, was arrested at Multan International Airport after arriving on flight QR-618 from Doha.

FIA authorities discovered the SIM cards hidden in Zohaib’s baggage during a routine search. The suspect has been transferred to the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing in Multan, where an investigation is being carried out under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) 2016.
