CM Punjab Inaugurates Laptop Scheme in Faisalabad, Promises More Scholarships

CM highlighted that the scholarships were granted based on 100% merit.

Faisalabad:  Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched the much-anticipated laptop scheme in Faisalabad on Thursday, emphasizing that the initiative would help provide quality education to deserving students on merit. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Maryam Nawaz expressed her deep emotional connection with the students and reinforced her commitment to ensuring that education remains accessible to all.

During her speech, she highlighted that the scholarships were granted based on 100% merit. “If you are on merit, you will get the scholarship,” she said. Maryam Nawaz shared an inspiring story of a young girl who had been asked to drop out of school due to financial constraints but was able to continue her education after receiving the scholarship. “I have been through your age. I too had dreams of achieving something, and no child’s dream should remain unfulfilled due to lack of resources,” she added.

The Chief Minister also expressed her emotional bond with the students, saying, “I used to cry only when my mother passed away or when my father went to the hospital. Now, when I see you every day, I feel like crying.” She assured the students that the government’s support was genuine, stating, “You don’t need to thank me. It was your right, and it has been fulfilled. Today, the state is feeling like a mother.”

Maryam Nawaz made a powerful commitment to the future of Punjab’s students, announcing that this year, 30,000 scholarships would be provided, with plans to increase that number to 50,000 next year. “I will invest the entire Punjab budget to make this possible,” she said, emphasizing that quality education would be the key to making dreams come true.

Additionally, the Chief Minister revealed plans to extend the scholarship program to second and third-year students in the near future.

Addressing the opposition, she shared her personal experiences, reflecting on the five months she spent in jail despite not committing any crime. “I endured hardships but never indulged in politics of revenge,” she remarked. She also expressed concern for children who had gone astray and found themselves in jail, saying she never supported violence or destruction and that such actions would only ruin the future of young people.
