USAID Head Meets Syed Abdul Qadir Gillani to Discuss South Punjab Development

ISLAMABAD: USAID Pakistan’s Head, Veeraya Kate Somvongsiri, recently met with Syed Abdul Qadir Gillani, Chairman of the Planning and Development Standing Committee, at the National Assembly. The meeting focused on discussing USAID’s development projects in South Punjab, particularly in the sectors of health, education, and energy.

During the meeting, Ms. Somvongsiri provided a comprehensive briefing on the ongoing initiatives by USAID in South Punjab, highlighting their positive impact on the well-being of local communities. She emphasized the significance of these programs in addressing key developmental challenges and improving the quality of life for the people in the region.

Syed Abdul Qadir Gillani, appreciating USAID’s efforts, extended an invitation to Ms. Somvongsiri and her delegation to visit Multan and his constituency. He encouraged the initiation of NGO-led projects in the area to further enhance the development initiatives. Ms. Somvongsiri welcomed the invitation and assured her commitment to visiting the region soon.

Also present at the meeting was Yahya Hussain Shah, Advisor to the Senate Chairman, who supported the ongoing dialogue on development in South Punjab. This meeting reinforced the shared commitment to improving the socio-economic conditions of South Punjab, marking a significant step in the continued partnership between USAID and the Pakistani government.
