Blinken Rejects Allegations of US Involvement in Gaza Conflict

Washinton-U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken addressed various global issues during a recent press conference. When questioned about the situation in South Korea, Blinken clarified that the U.S. was not informed about the martial law declaration until President Yoon’s address. He emphasized the importance of sustaining South Korean democracy.

Regarding the Gaza conflict, Blinken expressed the U.S. determination to secure the release of hostages and achieve a ceasefire. He highlighted the progress made in establishing a post-conflict plan and the need for a clear understanding of the day-after plan. Blinken also emphasized the U.S. commitment to supporting Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.

When asked about the Syrian conflict, Blinken stated that the U.S. believes Assad’s failure to engage in a political process has contributed to the current situation. However, he did not explicitly state whether Assad should stay in office.

Blinken faced criticism for the U.S. response to the Gaza conflict, with tens of thousands of Palestinians killed. He expressed his sympathies for the suffering of innocent civilians and emphasized his focus on bringing an end to the conflict.

Finally, Blinken addressed questions about President Biden’s cognitive decline and the 2024 presidential election. He declined to comment on private conversations with the President and emphasized the administration’s accomplishments, including a strong economy and re-energized partnerships and alliances.
