ISLAMABAD – On Wednesday, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif alleged that PTI founder Imran Khan and former intelligence chief Lt General Faiz Hameed were involved in the events of May 9.
Speaking on Dunya News’ program ‘On The Front,’ Asif stated that PTI leader Rauf Hassan was arrested during a raid on the party’s office, and that Faiz Hameed was later detained due to his ongoing connections with PTI.
Asif further noted that Faiz Hameed’s political involvement was evident and that he had significantly supported Imran Khan. He suggested that the May 9 incident would not have happened without the backing of a powerful figure, with Faiz Hameed’s name being linked to this support.

The Defence Minister also mentioned that Imran Khan and Faiz Hameed had stirred controversies around the appointment of the army chief. He emphasized that, while he has criticized the establishment, he has always stayed within appropriate boundaries.
