The PTI is holding demonstrations in various cities across the country, including several spots in Lahore, outside the Islamabad Press Club, many locations in Karachi including Clifton and Haideri as well as Quetta’s Metropolitan Corporation Office.

The raids, which began late Wednesday night, targeted key figures and activists in major cities, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar. The operation was conducted in response to the parties’ announcement of a protest sit-in at Islamabad’s D-Chowk after Friday prayers.

The crackdown has sparked widespread condemnation from opposition parties, human rights groups, and civil society organizations, who have denounced the move as an attempt to stifle dissent and suppress political opposition.

“This is a blatant attempt to muzzle the opposition and deny citizens their right to peaceful protest,” said a PTI spokesperson. “We will not be silenced or intimidated.”

JI leaders also condemned the arrests, saying, “The government is trying to crush our democratic rights, but we will continue to resist.”

As the situation continues to unfold, concerns are growing about the safety and well-being of those detained. The government has yet to comment on the exact number of arrests or the charges against those detained.
