Lahore High Court Orders Removal of Pervez Elahi’s Name from Passport Control List
The Lahore High Court’s decision sets a precedent in clarifying issues surrounding the PCL and underscores ongoing judicial oversight in matters concerning civil liberties and administrative decisions.
LAHORE: Lahore High Court has ruled in favor of former Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi, directing the removal of his name, along with those of Zara Elahi and Rasakh Elahi, from the Passport Control List (PCL).
Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza delivered the verdict following an application filed by Pervez Elahi challenging the inclusion of his name by the federal government on June 28. The court addressed the petition, which argued that the inclusion was unlawful, naming the federal government and others as respondents.
The decision marks a significant legal victory as the Lahore High Court sided with the petitioner’s contention that the inclusion of names was unjustified. The federal government had previously opposed the request.
Meanwhile, in another legal matter involving alleged illegal recruitment in the Punjab Assembly, former Chief Minister Pervez Elahi opted not to appear in court today.
