Polio Vaccination Campaign Kicks Off Across Sindh and Punjab

Authorities are urging parents to ensure their children receive the polio vaccine to safeguard against the debilitating disease.

KARACHI:  The province-wide anti-polio campaign commenced today, aiming to administer polio drops to approximately 5.4 lakh children over the course of a week. The campaign, running from June 3 to June 9, will see the involvement of over 35,000 workers, with more than 4,000 personnel ensuring the security of the polio teams.

In Punjab, similar efforts are being undertaken with anti-polio drives starting simultaneously in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Mianwali, and Okara.

The head of the anti-polio program in Punjab has issued a warning about the heightened risk of polio spread during the summer months, noting that the hot weather creates a favorable environment for the polio virus.
