Barrister Ali Zafar appointed PTI’s parliamentary leader in Senate

LAHORE_ Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) terminated on Saturday the membership of 22 leaders, including former Punjab chief minister Mahmood Khan.

The development came after Khattak formed the breakaway faction, PTI parliamentarians. Other leaders who had been expelled from the party were Shafiq Afridi, Ziaullah Bangash, Ishtia Urmar, Iqbal Wazeer, Yaqoob Sheikh and Wilson Wazeer. The notice was issued by PTI secretary general Omar Ayub Khan to the defected members.

Earlier this month, Khattak formed his own political party after parting with the original party. The party had been named Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Parliamentarians), and Khattak will be its head. The party membership of Khattak had been revoked. For not responding to the show-cause notice, the PTI had taken action against Khattak. Khattak’s basic membership was terminated, according to a notification from PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan.

As per the details, the notification was issued after the approval of PTI secretary general Omer Ayub. It stated that a show-cause notice was issued to the Sindh MPAs for violating party policy and voting for the MQM-P opposition leader. Eight PTI Sindh lawmakers including Syed Imran Ali Shah, Sanjay Gangwani, Sachanand Lakhwani Sachal, Rabia Azfar Nizami, Omar Omiri, Mohammad Ali Aziz, Karim Bux Gabol, and Bilal Ahmed were served with show cause notices for their voting for opposition leader in Sindh Assembly after ignoring the party directions.

All the members who received the show-cause notice are bound to submit the explanation within three days and if their response is unsatisfactory the party will take action against them.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday appointed Barrister Ali Zafar as its new parliamentary leader in the Senate. Sources divulged that the PTI chief had approved Zafar’s appointment as the parliamentary leader in the upper house of the Parliament. PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub issued a notification in this regard.  Separately, the PTI issued show-cause notices to its lawmakers for violating party discipline and casting votes for the opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly.

The PTI had issued notices to Syed Imran Ali Shah, Sanjay Gangwani, Rabia Azfar Nizami, Umar Amari, Mohammad Ali Aziz, Karim Bakhsh Gabol, and Bilal Ahmed for violating the party discipline.
