WhatsApp Relocates Operations from Pakistan Amid Internet Slowdown

PTA is in talks with Starlink regarding satellite service licensing in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: WhatsApp has officially moved its Content Delivery Network (CDN) abroad, causing service disruptions for local users. The shift of its session server routing outside Pakistan has led to difficulties in maintaining connections for many WhatsApp users.

Despite the relocation, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reported improvements in internet services, with upgrades in both fixed-line and mobile internet speeds. The country now ranks 139th in fixed-line speed and 97th in mobile internet speed globally.
