Pakistan launches first voice-based AI platform “Noor” for disaster preparedness

Islamabad: A major step towards disaster preparedness as Viamo has launched Pakistan’s first voice-based Artificial Intelligence platform “Noor,” aimed at helping communities respond to natural disasters.

Addressing the event, Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, highlighted the importance of innovative and accessible technology to tackle growing climate risks.

“Noor” is designed to work on basic mobile phones without internet, ensuring vital information reaches people in remote and underserved areas.

According to initial data, the platform has led to a 27% increase in disaster preparedness, with basic phone users reaching levels comparable to smartphone users.
