VP Maryam Nawaz appears before IHC in Avenfield case

Islamabad: (Staff Reporter) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President (VP) Maryam Nawaz appeared before the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

IHC heard Maryam Nawaz’s appeal against conviction in the Avenfield reference.

During the proceedings, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Prosecutor argued that the present appeal is about aiding and abetting the crime.

Furthermore on which, Justice Aamer Farooq remarked that the PML-N leader filed an appeal on the account of short comings in the Accountability Court’s decision. The court directed the NAB Prosecutor to present counter arguments on the case.

Earlier, IHC heard the petition filed by Maryam Nawaz against conviction in the Avenfield reference on Thursday.

According to the source, in the hearing, lawyer Amjad Parvez stated that the decision of the case rests on the report of Robert William Radley and the expert’s report can be secondary evidence, not primary.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani added that the court will look at the matter from the case of Calibri Font.

The court had directed NAB to present arguments at the next hearing and adjourned the case till September 20.
