QUETTA: In a tragic and shocking incident, 17-year-old Hira Anwar, a girl with American citizenship, was fatally shot in Quetta, Pakistan, allegedly over her involvement in making TikTok videos. The police have arrested her father, Inwar-ul-Haq, along with her uncle and maternal uncle, on suspicion of orchestrating the murder.
The incident occurred at the entrance of Hira’s home on Balochi Street. She was reportedly shot and died on the spot from her injuries. Authorities rushed to the scene and transported her body to a hospital for a post-mortem examination before handing it over to her family.
Hira, who had recently returned to Pakistan from the United States with her parents, was allegedly warned by her family to stop creating and sharing TikTok videos. However, she refused to comply, which reportedly angered her father and other male relatives. According to police sources, this disagreement escalated into violence, leading to her tragic death.
SHO Babar Baloch of Gwalmandi Police Station confirmed that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime. Preliminary investigations reveal that Hira’s father, Inwar-ul-Haq, who had moved to the U.S. with his family, returned to Quetta just a few days ago. It is alleged that he conspired with his brother-in-law, Tayeb Ali, to carry out the murder. Reports suggest that Hira was taken outside her home, where her maternal uncle shot her before fleeing back inside.
