US Iran Ceasefire Deal 2026 Looms as Military Clashes Flare Near Strait of Hormuz

What the US Iran Ceasefire Deal 2026 Means for the World

US vs IRAN – (Web Desk) – The US Iran ceasefire deal 2026 is close to being signed, with both sides agreeing on a draft text. Washington expects to finalize the initial agreement within days.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called the deal a victory for Iran. He told state television that Iran came out stronger from the conflict with the United States.

However, just hours later, US forces shot down several Iranian drones heading toward the Strait of Hormuz. The US military confirmed the action and said the waterway remained open for commercial traffic.

The draft agreement calls for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the US naval blockade on Iranian ports. In return, the US would release billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets and ease sanctions on Iranian oil exports.

Iran’s nuclear programme will be discussed during a 60-day negotiation period. The US says the final goal is full dismantling of Iran’s nuclear programme. However, Iran wants to keep its uranium in diluted form rather than destroying it.

The deal also includes talks on possible war reparations for Iran. Longstanding US demands to limit Iran’s missile programme appear to have been dropped, though US officials denied this.

Where Will It Be Signed?

A Western source said US Vice President JD Vance and Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf could sign the deal as early as Sunday. Geneva is the most likely location. Araghchi said the signing would happen remotely before any public announcement.

What About Israel?

Israel is not part of these negotiations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed his country will not be bound by the agreement. Israel’s defense minister also ruled out any military withdrawal, saying Israel will protect its freedom to act against threats.

The Road Ahead

This deal could reshape the Middle East if signed. But major gaps remain, especially over Iran’s nuclear future and Israel’s military position in Lebanon. The coming days will decide if this agreement holds or falls apart.
