Umar Siddiq Leads Lake City Panthers to First Win in Bahria Town Champions T20 Cup

Rawalpindi: Umar Siddiq’s brilliant unbeaten 78 and Amad Butt’s match-winning performance with the ball guided Lake City Panthers to an impressive eight-wicket victory over Engro Dolphins in the Bahria Town Champions T20 Cup on Sunday.

Siddiq played a stunning knock of 78 off 53 balls, which included four towering sixes and eight boundaries. His quickfire innings provided the Panthers with a solid start, scoring 33 runs in the first three overs, with the team reaching 86 for the loss of Sharjeel Khan (14) by the tenth over.

Siddiq, alongside stand-in captain Haider Ali (46 off 28 balls), added a rapid 101-run partnership for the second wicket, bringing their side within 23 runs of the target. Haider’s innings included five boundaries and two sixes. Mubasir Khan (16 not out) sealed the victory by hitting the winning six in the 16th over, as the Panthers chased down the 161-run target comfortably in just 16 overs.

Earlier, Engro Dolphins posted a modest total of 160-8 in their 20 overs. Despite several players getting starts, no one could convert them into a big score. Mohammad Huraira top-scored with 37 off 32 balls, while Mohammad Suleman contributed 34 off 27 balls. Contributions from Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (27) and Shayan Sheikh (20) helped the Dolphins finish strong, with 55 runs coming in the last five overs.

For the Panthers, all-rounder Amad Butt was the standout bowler, claiming 3-19, while Mohammad Ibtisam also made an impact with 2-30, restricting the Dolphins to a chaseable total.
