Sarfaraz Ahmed, Umar Gul Set To Leave Test Roles

LONDON: (Sports Desk) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to make major changes to the national Test setup ahead of the third Test against England, with Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul likely to be relieved of their coaching responsibilities, sources said.

The decisions were reportedly taken during a meeting chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in London following Pakistan’s heavy defeat at Lord’s.

Sarfaraz, Umar Gul Set To Leave Roles

According to sources, Sarfaraz Ahmed will be relieved of his responsibilities with the Pakistan Test team after returning home.

Bowling coach Umar Gul is also expected to leave his position.

Both Sarfaraz and Gul, however, are likely to remain with the squad for the third Test in Birmingham before departing for Pakistan.

Mike Hesson To Take Charge

Sources said Mike Hesson is expected to oversee the Test team during the Birmingham match.

Hesson is also likely to take charge of Pakistan’s Test side during the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

The changes are part of a broader restructuring of the Test setup following Pakistan’s disappointing performance in England.

Salman Ali Agha Also Set To Return

Meanwhile, Salman Ali Agha is reportedly being sent back to Pakistan before the third Test.

According to sources, Salman will return home alongside Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq.

The PCB is expected to finalise further changes to the Test squad and coaching structure ahead of the Birmingham Test.

Pakistan trail England 2-0 in the three-match series, with the third Test scheduled to begin in Birmingham.
