Meyer Emphasizes Strong People-to-People Ties Between U.S. and Pakistan

Islamabad – Eric Meyer, Senior Official at the U.S. Department of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, delivered a statement today on the margins of the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum, which is being held at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad. Meyer expressed his enthusiasm for being in Pakistan, commending the country for its hospitality and its efforts to promote a level playing field for investors.

In his remarks, Meyer highlighted the strategic importance of critical minerals, noting that they are essential for the most important technologies, and emphasized the commitment of the U.S. to securing its future in minerals. He referenced President Trump’s focus on the criticality of minerals to the nation’s future.

Meyer also took the opportunity to celebrate other recent successes in U.S.-Pakistan economic relations, particularly the return of U.S. soybean exports to Pakistan. Four vessels carrying over 260,000 tons of soybeans recently arrived in Pakistan, marking a significant milestone in bilateral trade.

Beyond economic ties, Meyer expressed optimism about the enduring relationship between the U.S. and Pakistan, underscoring the strong people-to-people connections. Meyer concluded his remarks by reiterating his commitment to working closely with Pakistan to deepen the partnership between the two nations in the years ahead.
