Islamabad US Emabassy – (Web Desk) – The US Embassy in Islamabad hosted a special Freedom 250 Arts Entrepreneurship showcase at the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP). The event brought together artists, designers, business owners and cultural leaders from across the country.
US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker and well-known Pakistani designer HSY led the evening. Famous broadcaster and filmmaker Tauseeq Haider guided the discussion on stage.
This showcase is part of Freedom 250, a year-long program marking 250 years of American independence. The night had three main parts. There was a talk on American business ideas, a small marketplace with work from 20 members of the Pakistan-US Alumni Network, and a fashion show covering 250 years of American style.
Baker spoke about how clothes and fabric connect the two countries. She shared that Pakistan sends more than four billion dollars worth of finished clothing to the US every year. A large part of this clothing is made using American cotton.
She also noted that Pakistan buys close to eight hundred million dollars in US cotton each year, making America one of its top cotton suppliers. This shows how closely the two countries work together, from cotton fields in America to factories in Pakistan.
Baker pointed out that Pakistan also makes a huge amount of denim. She said many jeans sold in American stores, including popular brands, actually begin their journey in Pakistani factories.
She added that creative thinking has been part of American life since 1776. According to her, American culture pushes people to take chances, try new ideas, and build something different.
The runway show was a clear highlight of the night. It told the story of American fashion through fabric, design, and color, giving guests a real feel of American style across the decades.
Freedom 250 will continue through the year with more events and programs. The goal is to celebrate American history while building closer ties with friends like Pakistan.
