Two Policemen Martyred in Terrorist Attack on Police Checkpoint in Shangla
Shangla: Two police officers were martyred, and three others were injured in a terrorist attack on a police checkpoint in the Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, confirmed the Interior Ministry on Tuesday.
According to police reports, militants opened fire indiscriminately and threw hand grenades at the Gananagar checkpoint in the Chakesar area. The attack resulted in the deaths of Assistant Sub-Inspector Hassan Khan and Head Constable Nisar Khan. Three other police personnel – Constables Muhammad Hussain, Arshad Khan, and Rifat – were injured in the assault.
The wounded officers have been transferred to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital in Battagram for medical treatment.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, attributing it to the terrorist group Fitna-ul-Khawarij. He paid tribute to the martyred police officers, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of ASI Hassan Khan and Head Constable Nisar Khan. The minister extended his condolences to their families and prayed for the recovery of the injured officers.

The Interior Minister praised the courage of the fallen officers, stating that they had attained the “high rank of martyrdom” and that their sacrifices would never be forgotten. He emphasized that the entire nation stands with the families of the martyred officers, and the sacrifices made by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police in the fight against terrorism are deeply honored.
