Two more UAE planes bring relief goods for Flood victims

UAE launches initiative to assist flood affectees,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation UAE, Ministry of Community Development UAE and Emirates Red Crescent in coordination with Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai have launched a volunteering initiative to collect donations for flood affectees in Pakistan.
This volunteering initiative was launched today simultaneously at following locations across UAE.
- Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), Abu Dhabi.
- Dubai Exhibition Center, Expo City Dubai.
- Expo Center, Sharjah
Charge d’ Affaires, Mr. Imtiaz Feroz Gondal along with Dr. Hamdan Mussallam AlMazrouei
Mazrouei, Chairman of Board of Directors of the Emirates Red Crescent and Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation participated in the launch of this campaign in Abu Dhabi.
More than 30,000 boxes were donated today. Each box consists of food and hygiene kits to support a family of 5 for a whole month.
Cd’A thanked the people and Government of the UAE for their continuous support in this difficult time. He also appreciated the work being done by the Emirates Red Crescent for the flood affectees in Pakistan.
Meanwhile Hundreds of volunteers from various nationalities turned up at south hall of Dubai Exhibition Center at Expo City in early hours of Saturday to pack food and hygiene items for victims of floods in Pakistan.
Eight-year-old Ahad was one of those who decorated postcards to be put into shipped boxes. He was browsing his iPad for designs when Khaleej Times met him.
“I am drawing and colouring to make postcards cheerful,” said the Grade 4 student at GEMS Wellington School. “I have already finished 10 postcards. I am doing more.”
Pakistani national was with his sister and mother at table. “I am glad about this drive,” said his mother, Mahira Zakiuddeen. “I hope this is first of many. Pakistan needs this help.”
recent floods have displaced almost 33 million Pakistanis and UAE has been at forefront of providing relief for country.
