Trump reportedly confronts Hegseth over Iran war concerns

WASHINGTON: (News Desk) – US President Donald Trump has reportedly expressed frustration over military preparedness for the ongoing conflict with Iran, with reports claiming he questioned Defense Secretary Pat Hegseth over concerns about ammunition supplies.

According to The Washington Post, two individuals familiar with the discussion said Trump raised the issue during a cabinet meeting held at Camp David last Friday. The sources, who spoke anonymously, claimed the president questioned why he had not been informed about reported shortages in key weapons supplies.

The report said Trump was particularly concerned about limited availability of long-range guided missiles and air defense interceptors, which officials allegedly identified as factors affecting decisions on potential further military operations against Iran.

During the reported exchange, Hegseth defended his position and allegedly pointed responsibility toward his deputy, Stephen Feinberg, saying he had not been properly updated on the situation.

The reported disagreement has added to speculation over tensions within the administration regarding Iran policy. According to the report, Hegseth had previously supported military action against Iran and presented it as a campaign that could achieve quick results.

However, the White House and Pentagon have strongly rejected the allegations, calling the claims inaccurate. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said the reported confrontation was false and maintained that Trump has complete confidence in Hegseth.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell also denied the accusations, stating that Hegseth did not mislead the president about ammunition levels, did not blame Feinberg, and that claims about internal disputes and disagreements over Iran policy were fabricated.
