Terrorist Attack Repelled at Police Check-Post in Taunsa; One Suspected Militant Killed
Punjab Police Kill Notorious Dacoits Linked to 2024 Attack on Police Convoy
Taunsa – A suspected militant was killed as police successfully repelled a terrorist attack on a check-post in Taunsa district’s town of Jhangi, located along the border between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Dera Ghazi Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ali Kazmi, the attack occurred on Sunday night when terrorists fired rockets at the Jhangi police check-post. In response, the police retaliated using thermal cameras, effectively targeting the assailants.
During the exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed, while others managed to escape the scene. Fortunately, no police personnel were injured in the attack.
This incident marks the eighth terrorist attack in the border regions of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this month, highlighting the rising security concerns in the area.
In a separate operation earlier this month, Punjab Police carried out a major crackdown on criminals in the Katcha area of Rahim Yar Khan, resulting in the deaths of two notorious dacoits—Shah Mir alias Meera Kosh and Hakim Kosh. These criminals were prime suspects in the 2024 killing of 12 police officers in the Kacha Machka region. On August 22, 2024, dacoits had launched a deadly attack on a police convoy using rocket launchers, resulting in the martyrdom of 12 police personnel.
