ISLAMABAD: (Finance Reporter) – The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has received bids for the import of 185,000 metric tonnes of wheat at rates lower than those offered in its previous tender, according to sources in the Ministry of Commerce.
Sources said TCP received 13 bids under the latest wheat import tender, with 12 bidders declared technically and financially compliant.
The lowest offer for delivery at Karachi was $339.36 per metric tonne, while the lowest bid for Gwadar was $340.36 per metric tonne.
Bidders have been given until 6pm Tuesday to submit complaints or objections regarding the tender process. The federal government will subsequently decide whether to award the contract.
The latest tender was issued by TCP following a decision by the federal government to import wheat.
Earlier, TCP had opened a tender on September 16 for the import of 750,000 metric tonnes of wheat. The lowest bid for Karachi in that tender was $348.83 per metric tonne, while the lowest offer for Gwadar was $352.97 per metric tonne.
Compared with the previous tender, the latest Karachi offer is $9.47 per metric tonne lower, while the Gwadar bid is $12.61 per metric tonne lower.
