FTO Orders FBR to Process Delayed Tax Refund Payments
ISLAMABAD: (Finance Reporter) – The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has taken notice of delays in the payment of tax refunds and directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to expedite the process for eligible taxpayers.
According to the ombudsman, refund claims involving thousands of taxpayers have remained unresolved for several years, causing prolonged financial difficulties for those awaiting their payments.
The FTO instructed relevant FBR officials to review the outstanding cases and ensure that admissible refund claims are processed without further delay.
The directions include completing pending refund cases, approving eligible claims and releasing payments to taxpayers as soon as possible.
The ombudsman further directed FBR officials to ensure effective implementation of the orders and provide necessary assistance to taxpayers whose refund claims have remained pending for extended periods.
The move is aimed at reducing the backlog of unresolved refund cases and ensuring that eligible taxpayers receive amounts due to them in a timely manner.
