Son of Hamas Gaza Chief Azzam Khalil Al-Hayya Wounded in Israeli Strike, Five Others Killed
Azzam Khalil Al-Hayya Wounded Amid Relentless Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza
Gaza – (Web Desk) – Azzam Khalil Al-Hayya, the son of Hamas’s chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, was seriously wounded in an Israeli airstrike on the Al-Daraj neighbourhood of Gaza City on Wednesday. The same strike killed one person and wounded ten others, according to hospital officials and a security source.
The attack was one of several that day across Gaza. Al-Ahli hospital confirmed it received three bodies and multiple injured people after an Israeli drone struck the Zeitoun neighbourhood, southeast of Gaza City.
Gaza’s civil defence agency reported that at least five people were killed in strikes throughout the morning. Two more deaths were confirmed in separate attacks across the territory, one of whom was identified as a Hamas police officer.
Violence in Gaza has not stopped despite a ceasefire that was meant to pause the war. Both Israel and Hamas have accused each other of breaking the truce. Since the ceasefire began, Gaza’s health ministry reports at least 837 Palestinians have been killed. The United Nations considers these figures reliable. Israel says five of its soldiers also died during the same period.
The Gaza war began following Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Peace remains fragile, and ordinary people continue to pay the highest price.
