First Monkeypox Case Confirmed in Sindh, Public Urged to Take Precautions

Karachi: Sindh has confirmed its first case of monkeypox, with a 28-year-old male patient diagnosed at Jinnah Hospital. Health department sources confirmed that the individual, a resident of Shah Latif Town, was admitted to the hospital after showing symptoms. Samples were sent to Dow Hospital for testing, which confirmed the presence of the monkeypox virus.

The patient has been placed in isolation at the hospital, and strict precautionary measures are being implemented. Health authorities revealed that the patient’s wife, who recently traveled abroad, exhibited symptoms of the virus before it was transmitted to him.

This marks the first officially confirmed monkeypox case in Sindh, raising concerns among health officials about potential further infections. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urging the public to follow preventive measures, including avoiding close contact with infected individuals, to prevent the spread of the disease.
