Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori Threatened with Same Fate as MQM Leader Imran Farooq

London/Karachi – Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has received a chilling threat via email warning him of the same fate as Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Imran Farooq, who was brutally murdered in London 14 years ago. The email, which Tessori received shortly after arriving in London two weeks ago, contained explicit and gruesome language, threatening both him and his family.

The message, reportedly from an individual identifying as a nationalist, warned Tessori to cease his activities or face severe consequences. The sender specifically referenced Farooq’s assassination, suggesting that if Farooq could be targeted in London, Tessori would be an easy target as well. The email further stated that Tessori’s movements and those of his family were being monitored, and that the governor would not remain in his position for long. It even mentioned Tessori’s child by name.

Tessori had been in London, Bradford, and Birmingham to address four major gatherings alongside spiritual leaders of Eid Gah Sharif. Despite the threat, he proceeded with his planned engagements and disclosed the details of the email upon his return to Karachi.

Imran Farooq, a founding member of MQM, was murdered on September 16, 2010, in Edgware, London, leading to unrest in Karachi. In 2019, an Islamabad court sentenced Mohsin Ali Syed and Muhammad Kashif Khan Kamran to life imprisonment for Farooq’s murder, while two other men, Khalid Shamim and Moazzam Ali, were also convicted for their involvement.

Tessori has reported the threat to Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies, confirming his continued commitment to his duties despite the alarming warning. The threat has raised concerns over the safety of political figures in exile and the ongoing tensions within MQM factions.
