Shooter Mohsin Nawaz dedicates Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to PLRA Patron Field Marshal Asim Munir

Lahore: Pakistani shooter Mohsin Nawaz, a proud Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient, has dedicated his national honour to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The Mohsin Nawaz shooter Pakistan story is one of dedication, discipline, and the power of institutional support in building champions.

Nawaz spoke warmly about how government institutions have played a key role in growing shooting sports across the country. He thanked the Cabinet Division and the Pakistan Sports Board for bringing shooting into the mainstream sporting framework.

He gave special credit to Field Marshal Asim Munir for helping build the facilities and support systems that Pakistani shooters truly needed. Thanks to this support, Pakistani shooters can now compete globally under their national flag through a recognised structure.

One of the biggest achievements under this framework is the launch of the Pakistan Long Range Rifle Association (PLRA). The PLRA has officially secured affiliation with the International Confederation of Fullbore Rifle Associations (ICFRA), giving Pakistan its first-ever formal presence in international long-range rifle shooting.

This opens real doors for talented Pakistani athletes to compete on the world stage through a proper national structure, something that was simply not possible before.

Mohsin Nawaz is not just talking the talk. He has won 10 individual international medals and has represented Pakistan in the United Kingdom, the United States, and South Africa. With over two decades of competitive experience, he firmly believes Pakistan has enormous untapped potential in this sport.

“We are still in the early stages, but our goal is to compete with world champions,” he said. “The talent is here. We just need to keep moving in the right direction.”

Nawaz has trained under the 2023 World Champion, giving him a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed at the highest level. He stressed that long-range shooting demands serious mental strength, sharp focus, and hours of disciplined practice.

He also highlighted the role of the Pakistan Army, whose culture of precision and professionalism can help produce elite shooters for the country.

Beyond his own career, Nawaz wants to give back. He is committed to mentoring young Pakistani shooters and helping them find a clear path to international competition.

“There are many talented young Pakistanis out there,” he said. “I want to share what I have learned and help them reach their goals.”

He described the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz not as a personal trophy, but as a symbol of responsibility and service to the nation. “The future of shooting sports in Pakistan is very bright,” he added. “But we need continued support from institutions and stakeholders to help this sport truly grow.”
