Shehbaz Sharif, Asif Zardari, Fazlur Rehman Maryam,Bilawal express solidarity with Palestinians
Lahore/Islamabad/Peshawar/Karachi_Former president Asif Ali Zardari and former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday reacted to the ongoing tensions between Palestine and Israel.
In a statement issued here, former president Asif Zardari sympathised with the Palestinians, saying the sympathies and prayers of the people of Pakistan were with them.
The PPP co-chairman added that the Palestinian people had been facing atrocities for a long time.
Former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the Hamas attacks on Israel were a reaction to Israeli actions on Al-Aqsa Mosque and other holy places.
In a statement issued here, the PML-N president called for an immediate resolution of the territorial conflict, observing that Israel was depriving the Palestinians of their right to self-determination.
He said it was imperative to end Israeli atrocities on the Palestinians, and its illegal occupation.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) President Fazlur Rehman Sunday said the Palestinian Freedom fighter’s attack on Israel is a historic achievement and the party stands in solidarity, Fazlur Rehman said that the Palestinian’s attack on Israel is justified and we completely support them. They got their territories liberated from the oppressive Israeli occupation.
The world thought that the oppression of the people of Palestine had been forgotten, he said adding that the recent happenings showed that it was never forgotten and the voices against the oppression cannot be silenced.
He said that the retaliation to the Israeli oppression has destroyed Israel’s defense system and their pride. The fact should be recognized that Israel is not a great power but an exaggerated one.
He demanded that the United Nations get the 1967 agreements implemented by playing their role. The Aqsa Mosque be handed over to the Muslims.
He said that an urgent meeting of all members of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) should be called. Pakistan and other Islamic countries should determine their stance keeping in view the current situations. The establishment of peace in the Middle East should be ensured which cannot happen without recognizing Palestine and handing over their country to them.
He announced that JUI will express solidarity with the people of Palestine in every district of the country on Friday and the entire nation should participate in the demonstrations presenting proof of the unity of the Ummah.
Maryam said it is the right of the Palestinians to fight for their freedom against the usurping army, adding that supporting the oppressed against the tyrants and usurpers was true justice.
The PML-N official said the usurper army that has flouted agreements was responsible for the current situation.
She added that India was involved in state terrorism in Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, while Israel’s state terrorism in the occupied Palestinian territories was a crime.
Maryam Nawaz remarked that lasting peace can be established only by implementing the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
She also suggested that Islamic countries ensure provision of relief items to the Palestinians.
The sun of freedom will dawn with the sacrifices of brave Kashmiris and Palestinians, Maryam stressed.
Israel and Palestine-based Hamas are fighting again. Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel that was retaliated with airstrikes. Resultantly, at least 313 Palestinians and over 350 Israelis have been killed, and more than 2,000 injured on both sides.
