Severe Heatwave Alert Issued Across Multiple Pakistani Regions

KP Authorities Establish Cooling Centers Amid Extreme Temperature Forecasts

A severe heatwave alert has been issued for Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and southern areas of Punjab from Thursday through May 11, with temperatures in several regions expected to range between 46°C and 50°C.

According to the Meteorological Department, weather conditions are likely to remain extremely hot and humid across many parts of the country, significantly increasing the risk of heatstroke and dehydration.

In Karachi, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 38°C, but due to high humidity levels, it may feel as hot as 40°C to 42°C. Morning humidity was recorded at 78 percent, while sea winds continued blowing from the west at around 19 kilometers per hour.

Health experts have urged citizens, particularly children, senior citizens and individuals with medical conditions, to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during peak daytime hours. Doctors advised people to stay hydrated, remain indoors whenever possible and take preventive measures against heat-related illnesses.
