North Waziristan Operation Leaves 27 Militants Dead
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Security forces killed 27 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations conducted in North Waziristan’s Miran Shah area, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing said security personnel targeted multiple militant hideouts in the region over the past 72 hours. Following intense exchanges of fire, 27 militants were killed during the operations.
Authorities said a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in terrorist activities and targeted attacks on civilians.
The ISPR stated that the operation also avenged the killing of prominent local figure Malik Saifullah Dawar, who was martyred in Miranshah. Officials said those responsible for the attack had been brought to justice.
Security forces continue clearance operations in the area to eliminate any remaining militants. The military reiterated its commitment to pursuing counterterrorism efforts under the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the successful operation. In separate statements, both leaders reaffirmed the government’s resolve to continue efforts against terrorism until the threat is fully eradicated.
They emphasized that the nation remains united in support of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies in combating militancy and maintaining national security.
