Afridi Long March on October 4 Will Draw Bigger Crowd

PESHAWAR – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – The Afridi long march will attract more people than the earlier protest planned for September 27, according to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. He said this while speaking at a press conference in Peshawar.

The chief minister was talking about the long march of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), set for October 4. He said the party expects a bigger turnout this time.

Afridi also sent a warning to those he did not name. He said any attempt to create an “adventure” or make the country’s situation worse on purpose would meet a public response.

He explained that the march would not head straight to its final stop. It will first move towards Swabi, and only after that will it go further.

The chief minister said the party wants the march to stay organised. For this reason, PTI will publish a list of senior leaders who will guide the workers. The list will come out two days before the march begins.

Afridi said the party will also set up a full chain of command. If one leader is not available for any reason, another leader will step in and take charge. In this way, the march will not be left without direction.

He made it clear that workers have a role to play as well. Every worker, he said, will be expected to follow the instructions of the chosen leadership during the march.

The chief minister also spoke about former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Afridi said Gandapur remains determined and ready for the march. He added that he will lead the march alongside Gandapur.

The announcement shows that PTI is now focused on the new date. The party has moved its attention from the September 27 plan to October 4, and its leaders are saying the gathering will be larger.

For supporters, the message is simple. Watch for the leaders’ list two days before the march, and follow the instructions given by the party. For others, the press conference gives an early look at how PTI plans to run the event.

So far, the details are limited to the first stop and the leadership plan. More information may come as the date gets closer, especially when the list of leaders is released.
