Second son of Aleema Khan detained at their home
Lahore police detain Shershah Khan, the second nephew of Imran Khan, in a May 9 riots case.
Lahore – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Lahore police confirmed on Friday the arrest of Shershah Khan, the second son of Aleema Khan and another nephew of PTI founder Imran Khan. This follows the arrest of his brother, Shahrez Khan, just a day earlier. Both arrests are connected to the violent May 9 protests last year.
Police state the brothers were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the attacks on military installations, specifically the Jinnah House (Lahore Corps Commander’s residence). However, the PTI party and the family’s lawyer have strongly denied these claims, labelling the arrests as “abductions” and “harassment”.
A day of court proceedings saw Shahrez Khan sent to an 8-day physical remand for police investigation. His lawyer, PTI’s Salman Akram Raja, argued that his client was falsely implicated and was not even in Lahore on May 9 but was instead in Chitral. He called the case a “well-thought-out conspiracy”.

This development occurs just two days after the Supreme Court approved Imran Khan’s bail in several May 9-related cases, leading PTI officials to suggest the arrests are a retaliatory measure. The party asserts that the “rule of law has been replaced with the law of the jungle” as both brothers were detained by plainclothes officers. The legal battle for both nephews is expected to continue in the anti-terrorism courts.
