Islamabad (Web Desk): In view of the continued spread of the poliovirus in Pakistan and ongoing government efforts to eradicate the disease, the second nationwide anti-polio vaccination campaign of 2026 is set to be launched in April, official sources said.

According to health officials, the upcoming polio drive will be conducted simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan as part of coordinated cross-border efforts aimed at eliminating the virus from the region.

More than 400,000 polio workers are expected to participate in the nationwide campaign to ensure maximum outreach and vaccination coverage for children.

Sources further revealed that the first national anti-polio campaign of 2026, held from February 2 to February 8, successfully vaccinated over 44.3 million children across the country.

Authorities say synchronized campaigns and intensified surveillance remain critical to breaking the chain of transmission and achieving complete eradication of polio.
