Second Day of Eid al-Adha Celebrated Across Pakistan with Religious Zeal
President Asif Ali Zardari offered Eid prayers in Nawabshah
The festivities began with Eid prayers held in mosques, Eid grounds, and open spaces throughout the country. Worshippers offered special prayers for the unity of the Muslim Ummah, peace in conflict-affected regions including Palestine, Iran, and Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, as well as for the prosperity and stability of Pakistan.
Large congregations were witnessed in major cities. In Karachi, worshippers gathered at Sabeel Wali Mosque, while thousands attended prayers at Data Darbar and Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore. Significant Eid congregations also took place at the Eid Gah Ground in Peshawar and the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad.
Federal ministers, politicians, parliamentarians, diplomats, and other notable personalities joined citizens in Eid prayers across the country.
Religious scholars, during their sermons, highlighted the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail (AS), emphasizing sacrifice, obedience, faith, and selflessness.
Citizens continued the Islamic ritual of animal sacrifice, with meat being distributed among family members, relatives, friends, and the underprivileged.
Authorities maintained strict security arrangements at mosques, Imambargahs, and Eid grounds in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Hyderabad, and Gwadar to ensure peaceful celebrations.
Municipal administrations in major cities, including Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad, also continued special cleanliness operations to manage waste generated during the Eid days. Waste management teams remained active in collecting animal remains and transporting them to designated disposal sites.

Economic Importance of Eid al-Adha
Apart from its religious significance, Eid al-Adha remains one of Pakistan’s largest annual economic activities. The festival generates billions of rupees through livestock trading, transportation, butchery services, and the leather industry.
Reports suggest that around 7.4 million animals, including cattle, goats, sheep, buffaloes, and camels, are sacrificed across the country during Eid.
Analysts estimate that spending on sacrificial animals and related activities in 2025 reached approximately Rs641 billion. However, rising inflation and increasing livestock prices have made it difficult for many lower-income families to participate fully in the ritual.
Eid Special TV Programs and Prison Meals
Television channels across Pakistan are airing special Eid transmissions, including entertainment programs, drama specials, and family shows throughout the holidays.
Meanwhile, prison authorities in Punjab arranged special meals for inmates so they could also celebrate Eid al-Adha with dignity and participate in the spirit of the religious occasion.
