Sarfaraz Ahmed Takes Responsibility Amid Pakistan Batting Struggles

LORD’S: (Sports Reporter) – Pakistan cricket team head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed has defended his players despite their disappointing performance on the England tour, acknowledging that the team has struggled with the bat while insisting that he would not unfairly target individual players.

Speaking to reporters at the end of the second day of the Lord’s Test, Sarfaraz said the current squad comprises some of Pakistan’s best available players and stressed that the coaching staff must stand by them during difficult periods.

He admitted that Pakistan’s batting has been a major concern, while the team has also struggled to maintain consistency in other areas. However, he said players such as Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha have proved their ability in the past and deserve support despite their recent lack of runs.

Sarfaraz said decisions regarding the squad would be taken after the series. The team management will review the players’ performances before deciding who should remain in the side and who may be left out.

The head coach acknowledged that the results have not gone Pakistan’s way but said the players are working hard and must improve if the national team is to maintain its standing and identity at the international level.

He stressed the importance of strengthening the domestic first-class cricket structure and addressing the technical shortcomings of the players.

Sarfaraz also accepted responsibility for the team’s performance, saying that as head coach, he would not shift the blame onto others and would take full responsibility for the shortcomings.
