Sarfaraz Ahmed Focused on Coaching Role Ahead of Bangladesh Test Series

KARACHI (Web Desk): Pakistan Test head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed has responded to criticism over his appointment, saying he remains focused on team duties despite external opinions ahead of the upcoming Test assignment.

Speaking at a training camp at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre, Sarfaraz said he is aware of the debate surrounding his transition into coaching but is determined to make the most of the opportunity.

He emphasized that he is working closely with the support staff, including Umar Gul, Asad Shafiq, Grant Luden, and Abdul Saad, ahead of the two-match Test series against the Bangladesh national cricket team, part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle.

Sarfaraz also praised senior batter Babar Azam, noting his improved form and technical adjustments, and said his role in the Test setup will be assessed once he joins the squad after completing PSL commitments.

The first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be played on May 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, while the second Test is scheduled for May 16–20 in Sylhet.
