Registration for Itikaf at Makkah and Madinah Mosques Opens on March 5
Riyadh – The General Authority for Care of the Two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia has announced that registration for Itikaf at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah will begin on March 5, 2025, according to Saudi Gazette.
The registration process will start at 11 am local time and will continue until all available slots for the ritual are filled. Itikaf, a religious practice observed during the last ten days of Ramadan, involves Muslims secluding themselves in a mosque for worship and prayer, strengthening their connection with Allah.
The permits will be issued through the authority’s official online platform, with applicants required to meet specific conditions and criteria. The ritual is scheduled to commence on Ramadan 20 (March 20) and will run until the end of the holy month.

Saudi authorities expect a large number of worshippers to participate in Itikaf this year as Ramadan began on March 1. The practice follows the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and offers an opportunity for spiritual reflection and devotion, free from the distractions of daily life.
