Rawalpindi Police Arrest Five Suspects in TikToker Ayesha Gilamana Murder Case
Police Claim Major Breakthrough in Ayesha Gilamana Murder Investigation
RAWALPINDI: (Crime Reporter) – Rawalpindi Police have claimed a major breakthrough in the murder investigation of TikToker Shamsu Bibi, also known as Ayesha Gilamana, with five suspects arrested, including her father and brother.
Police identified the suspects as Fazal, the victim’s father; Bashir, her brother; Ehsan, her cousin; Rozi Khan, her father’s uncle; and Yasin, the son of her cousin. All five suspects are currently in police custody.
SSP Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob announced the arrests during a press conference at Police Lines Rawalpindi, saying investigators solved the blind murder case following an extensive probe.
According to police, several special investigation teams were formed on the directions of CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera. The teams remained in contact with the CPO and regularly submitted progress reports during the investigation.
Investigators examined footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras and also relied on human intelligence and other available sources to trace the suspects.
Police said the investigation was expanded after officers closely examined the circumstances and sequence of events surrounding the killing. The victim’s father and brother were also questioned as part of the probe.
During interrogation, police said, the suspects allegedly confessed that Ayesha was killed by her father and brother with the assistance of their accomplices.
Investigators further alleged that the suspects attempted to fabricate circumstances surrounding the incident in order to mislead authorities and avoid legal consequences.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that the killing may have been carried out in the name of honour. However, officials stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and could uncover further details.
The five suspects were arrested on the basis of evidence gathered during the investigation, while further legal proceedings are underway.
