NDMA Reports 109 Rain-Related Deaths Across Pakistan Since June 26
ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – At least 109 people have lost their lives and 362 others have been injured in rain-related incidents across Pakistan since June 26, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The fatalities include 48 children, 38 men, and 23 women, highlighting the severe human impact of the ongoing monsoon season.
According to the NDMA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest number of deaths with 55 fatalities, followed by Punjab (36), Balochistan (8), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (7), Sindh (2), and Gilgit-Baltistan (1).
Among the 362 injured, Punjab reported 263 cases, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 80, Balochistan 15, and Sindh and Azad Jammu and Kashmir reported two injuries each.
The authority said the monsoon rains and flooding have also caused significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods across the country.
According to the latest assessment, 799 houses have been damaged, 379 livestock have perished, while 25 bridges and approximately 23 kilometres of roads have been damaged, disrupting transportation and access in several affected areas.
The NDMA has urged provincial authorities to remain vigilant and continue relief and rescue efforts in vulnerable regions as monsoon rains persist.
