Punjab increases kidney transplant card limit to Rs1m

LAHORE (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that the annual treatment limit for kidney dialysis patients under the transplant card programme has been increased to Rs1 million.
In a special message on World Kidney Day, the chief minister said thousands of patients are benefiting from the Punjab government’s kidney transplant programme.
She stated that free treatment facilities for kidney patients are being provided across Punjab, while transplant cards have been issued to ensure proper treatment for patients suffering from complex kidney diseases.
Maryam Nawaz also appreciated the efforts of doctors, nurses and other medical staff involved in treating kidney-related illnesses.

She said dialysis services in government hospitals have been improved with the support of the private sector, while modern equipment is being installed to enhance patient care.
The chief minister added that the free dialysis programme aims to reduce the financial burden on patients and their families.
Highlighting the global impact of kidney disease, she said more than 850 million people worldwide suffer from kidney-related illnesses. She also paid tribute to kidney donors for their humanitarian contribution.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that clean drinking water, regular exercise and a healthy diet can help prevent kidney diseases. She added that World Kidney Day plays an important role in raising awareness about healthy lifestyles, balanced diets and regular kidney check-ups.
