Lahore, June 11 — The Punjab government has announced a postponement of its budget presentation for the fiscal year 2025–26, moving the date from June 13 to June 16. Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman confirmed the delay on Wednesday, citing the need for additional preparation time.

The minister also assured the public that the upcoming budget would be tax-free, with no new taxes imposed on citizens. This announcement comes amid growing anticipation for the province’s financial plan, which is expected to focus heavily on development projects.

Sources reveal that the draft budget includes an unprecedented development outlay, featuring over 853 schemes with a total allocation exceeding Rs353 billion. Of these, 520 are ongoing projects allotted Rs160.82 billion, while 333 are new schemes proposed to receive Rs135.29 billion. Additionally, Rs57.40 billion will be set aside for six major development initiatives.
