Punjab Considers Province-Wide Ban on Vapes and E-Cigarettes
Proposed Legislation Aims to Curb Vaping Among Young People
LAHORE: (Staff Reporter) – The Punjab government is considering stricter legislation to prevent young people from becoming addicted to vapes and e-cigarettes, including a possible province-wide ban on their sale and use.
According to the proposal, consultations with relevant departments are being considered to develop a regulatory framework. The police, health department and district administration are expected to play key roles in implementing the proposed measures.
The proposed legislation may introduce restrictions on the sale, use and marketing of vaping products across Punjab, particularly those containing nicotine.
The initiative aims to protect young people from the potential health risks associated with nicotine-containing products and curb their growing use among youth.
The proposed law is also expected to specify penalties for individuals and businesses found violating the restrictions. However, the measures remain under consideration, and further details are expected after consultations with the relevant departments.
